According to The Blaze, Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock deleted a tweet in which he attempted to politicize the Easter holiday to his supporters.
“The meaning of Easter is more transcendent than the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” Warnock tweeted. “Whether you are Christian or not, through a commitment to helping others we are able to save ourselves.”
People were quick to jump on the controversial statement from Warnock, who was the pastor at Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church before being elected to the Senate.
“What kind of Reverend would say something like this. Jesus Christ died and then rose again to take the sins of the world away. You are poisoning the minds of Christians for political purposes,” one user responded.
