Trump honors fallen police

President Donald Trump spoke at the 36th Annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service outside the Capitol today. The ceremony recognizes and honors American law enforcement officers who died in the line of the duty the previous year.

The President said it was his priority that “our police are finally treated fairly with honor and respect that they deserve,” and that “every drop of blood spilled from our heroes in blue is a wound inflicted upon the whole country.”

He highlighted the voluntary nature of police work and that people become officers because they want to protect the innocent from crime and violence. Mike predicted that Attorney General Jeff Sessions will be more pro-police than the previous Department of Justice.
