Pope: Migrants’ Rights More Important Than Security

Pope Francis prioritized migrants’ welfare over national and continental security considerations in a Monday statement, according to the Associated Press (AP).

“Migrants’ dignity and right to protection trumps national security concerns,” is how AP framed Pope’s message.

A moral imperative “obliges us to always prioritize personal safety over national security, said Francis, framing his call as aligned with Jesus’ values and message.

Europe and other states should simplify and streamline refugee admissions policies in order to increase the total volume of refugees admitted, said Francis. Such foreigners, he added, should have access to accelerated securing of citizenship across Europe and the Western world.
